Killing Ants
Hey, good to see you again. Sit back, kick your shoes off and enjoy the story.
As an animal lover I have something I’d like to confess.
When I was a child I used to kill ants.
Not by stomping on them, mind you. Not squishing them between my shoe and the pavement. No, no. I used a premeditated, calculated method I could watch.
I used to burn them up with a magnifying glass.
You know how it’s done – I used to wait for a sunny day, grab my magnifying glass and run gleefully out to an unsuspecting ant hill. There I would choose my victim carefully and then hold the magnifying glass up and focus the sun on its back until it burnt up. I was relentless. I would focus on that little guy no matter how long it took and no matter how much he ran around trying to avoid the heat.
The end was always the same. Lisa 1 : ant 0.
Since then I’ve learned to be nicer to ants, and busy myself with other things. But you’ve got to admit, it’s amazing what you can do with focus and persistence.
The sun itself can’t really hurt an ant, but bundled into one strong ray, it’s capable of creating incredible heat. Coupled with persistence, this energy can really become a force to reckon with, especially if you’re an ant.
Our attention is like that too. If we allow it to spread out and wander, it’s hardly capable of creating or moving anything. Like the sun, it makes everything cozy and warm, but it isn’t really able to fry ants. But if we focus all our attention on one goal and persistently stay focused on that one goal, then we can really create intense energy and force. We can take cozy, warm energy and turn it into a laser beam. We can blast anything we choose.
So identify a goal you’d really like to achieve and think of my ants. Focus your attention on that goal, stay with it and don’t give up. You’ll get more energy moving than you ever knew you had. You’ll reach your goal with laser like effectiveness.
By the way, you can call me if you need a magnifying glass, I’ve got several.
Happy cooking,
Lisa
